Update on Tiv Day 2020
Dear Distinguished Members,
I bring warm greetings from and on behalf of your MUTUK Executive Management Committee. We hope that all of you and your families have remained well and stayed safe through what has been a historic but frightening period in our lifetime. Sadly, we are aware that we lost a couple of Tiv sons and daughters here in the UK but on the whole, we thank God almighty that the vast majority of the Tiv community in the UK have remained unharmed by this pandemic.
After much discussion and consultations, and based on the current UK government guidelines, it is with great regret that we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Annual Tiv Day Festival. We based our decision on the fact that, even if the lockdown was lifted completely at the end of July, for instance, there would be little time to organize, in addition to the likelihood that many members and visitors would be unwilling to gather in large numbers so soon after the lockdown.
We are aware that this is quite possibly the first time our cherished Tiv Day has had to be cancelled, but as we all know, these are very uncertain times.
We will endeavor to come up with other means of engaging you the members, but ultimately, our safety is more important than anything else.
Thank you all for your understanding.
