BACKGROUND
Nigeria, officially known as the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a country in West Africa with Abuja as its capital. It gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, and operates a democracy on the presidential system of government.
Nigeria is known for its vast size, diversity, and status as the most populous country in Africa, and is forecasted to have the 3rd largest population in the world after China, and India by 2050.

Nigeria is home to over 300 ethnic groups, with the Hausa-Fulani, Igbo, and Yoruba being the 3 major ones. It has 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as its capital.
Christianity and Islam are the two main religions practised in the country.
Rich in natural resources, Nigeria is a prominent OPEC member and a major crude oil exporter.
