President’s Christmas Message 2020
My dear MUTUK Family,
I bring you greetings on behalf of the Executive Committee and Trustees of the Mzough U Tiv UK (MUTUK).
With the Christmas holidays approaching and the year 2020 coming to an end, it is a great time to look back at this extremely difficult and unforgettable year in our history.
This year we lost some respected members of our community. We remember Mrs Martha Akiga, Pastor Simeon Terungwa Atoza, Mrs Mmaete Greg (Greg Or’s wife), Dr Anweh (Mrs Magdalene Anweh’s husband) and Pastor Joshua Jogo. We pray for the repose of their souls and the souls of all those we have lost in previous years.
Whilst we were thrown into mourning this year, we have had cause to celebrate some achievements. Notable among them were the birth of Master Torbem Aleva – the son of our Treasurer, the celebration of Juliet Akiga’s marriage and birth of their son, and Mr Verse Abudar, the son of Pastor and Mrs Terzungwe Abu.
Some of our members took advantage of the lockdown to publish books. Barr. Lois Adura published SAVED BY GRACE: The Paradox of Male Child Syndrome; Joy Kange published her children’s book, Mimi’s Little Holiday; Mrs Joyce Maagbe published, A Vessel Unto Honour; and I published my book, A Social Science Student’s Guide to Surviving Your PhD. On the other hand, Barr Eva Daboh launched African Plate, her online spice business and Mrs Margaret Bertie launched her MagsDelights Nigeria Limited – a warehouse for agricultural and electrical and electronic products in Makurdi.
While we pray and hope for a better 2021, this COVID-19 pandemic has taught us to appreciate the little things we sometimes take for granted, like family, friends, and our freedom to move about freely. Above all, the lesson from this COVID-19 is that love conquered all – from everyone supporting one another; to each of us taking responsibility to ensure the safety of others.
MUTUK is so proud to have you all onboard. On behalf of the Executive Committee, I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Dr Kohol Shadrach Iornem
