About MUTUK

Mzough U Tiv UK (MUTUK), a nonprofit organisation was founded in 1990. This was prompted by His Royal Highness, Orchivirigh James Akperan Orshi, Tor Tiv III, and was registered under the UK Friendly Societies Act of 1974 on January 29, 1993.


Mzough which is Tiv, when translated means togetherness.

OUR STORY

The Tiv are a Tivoid ethnic group in Nigeria (West Africa), renowned for agricultural prowess and a commitment to education. The state is revered as the 'Food Basket' of Nigeria. It's people are respected subsistence farmers & cattle rearers. They boast a high level of education, with many achieving advanced university qualifications, including Masters' and Doctorate degrees. It comes as no surprise to find its people within academia.

Mission and Values

The goal of MUTUK is to keep alive and pass on its rich cultural traditions to successive generations within the UK. Central to this are the values of compassion & cohesion - in supporting and elevating each another for a flourishing community.

OUR IMPACT

Guided by our commitment to help and look out for one another, MUTUK is deeply involved in fostering and enhancing all aspects of living. This well aligns with its role in Nigeria, as the "food basket" of the nation. The Tiv represent sustenance and prosperity for ourselves, and also of those around us, and far beyond.

TIV DAY

Tiv Day is our main annual event in the UK. It is when we all gather to celebrate with our families, friends and supporters from all across the country.  Some have even been known to visit us from Europe and Nigeria - further highlighting our vitality and cohesion.

THE ORGANISATION

As a group that is not part of the government, politics, or any specific party, we welcome everyone, no matter where you come from or what you believe. Become a member to make our community better for the good of our children, ourselves, and our nations i.e. Nigeria & the UK!
